What To Expect From Your Engagement Session

Dave and I just love to have engagement sessions! All of our wedding packages come with an engagement session, and so many clients ask why we include the session as part of the package… The reason is simple! Your engagement session is the beginning of YOUR STORY! Our whole goal with your wedding images is to tell the story of your love- from beginning to end… And in a very real way, the engagement session captures the beginning of your life together.

Its also a really helpful part of the process for us, also- we get to know you as a couple! This is VITAL! Because the day of your wedding, you are yourselves, but a busier, more hectic, more excitable and nervous version of yourselves… The engagement session allows us to get a feel of who you are individually and as a couple. The only way we can capture your personality and verve is by understanding WHO you are. The engagement session allows us a glimpse into your lives. We capture the two of you just hanging around being who you are, together. And those moments are PRICELESS!

Besides, can you imagine anything more fun than walking around in a portion of the city with a camera and a couple in love? We can’t! And your engagement session can take place anywhere! We can showcase your interests and also get you used to be stalked by “the paparazzi” (Dave and I, lol) before the day of wedding- so you get used to us being around all the time! What better preparation could there be for getting the best images and the best angles on the day then having a run-through with the engagement session BEFORE the day? There is none!

So what should WE do for our engagement session, you ask? Ok- here’s my count down of engagement sessions Dos and Don’ts…

DO

*Scope out a location that will be both fun and interesting for your pictures
*Bring a prop- something that is uniquely you- bikes, kites, dogs, firetrucks, cars, etc… something that says, this is US
*Wear something that makes you feel pretty (or handsome), but that is comfy and low-maintenance
*Consider going shopping for a new outfit ! (I use every excuse I can get to buy a new outfit and shoes! J )
*Wear something that is colorful and unique!
*Wear cute and comfy shoes! (this goes for guys too!)
*Wear unique or “chunky” jewelry!
*Wear some makeup that accentuates your eyes and your lips!
*Use the restroom BEFORE your session! And keep outfit changes to a minimum so we can maximize the time!
*Give lots of hugs, snuggles, and kisses during your session
*Relax! And laugh, A LOT!
*Be in love!

DON’T

*Overdo on the layers of clothing or wear anything too tight to sit down or stretch in!
*Wear shoes that hurt your feet. We will be walking around a lot
*Bring a purse or bag along with you- small items (like lip gloss or keys) can be stored in our bags, but you do NOT want to have to carry those around all over the place!
*Wear the same items of clothing (ie, matching shirts)! The general rule of thumb is to coordinate your look, not to “match”.
*Wear something that you will be afraid to get dirty!

Taggart Family Session | Seton Hill University

We met up with this great family at Seton Hill University on Sunday, where we got some great shots of frolicking in the beautiful foliage! The sky was blue, the temps were warm, and the leaves were so bright and colorful! We could not have asked for a better day, and we had a great time. We hope you three great ladies enjoy this sneak peek!

Nicole & Joe’s Engagement | Boice Park

Nicole and Joe were so much fun to be around! We met up with them at Fire Station Number 6 in Monroeville, where Joe is an active volunteer firefighter. We had such a great time taking their engagement images with the fire trucks and fire gear before we headed out to Boyce Park to take a few more shots in the beautiful autumn weather (although, it really felt more like summertime with that sun blazing down on us!). Finally we ended the session at their house so we could grab a couple of images with Joe’s Harley. Nicole and Joe, here’s a sneak peek for you! Hope you enjoy the images! We can’t wait for your wedding at Foggy Mountain next year!
