Sara and I are wedding and lifestyle photographers that just love what we do. It is our chance, to not only photograph great people during their weddings, engagements, lifestyle, or senior sessions; but also, it is our chance to build new friendships with our clients. We get the chance to meet some really great people during our time with our clients.
It is such a great honor to be able to do what you love and be with people that you love. We get the chance to document our clients’ best time of their lives, and we get to do it together.
Sara and I were always the pesky family members that photographed everything- birthdays, holidays and special gatherings. We always had our point and shoot cameras with us. {Sara and Dave, will you be at the birthday party? Oh, and you will bring your cameras, so you can take pictures, right? Of course we will…}
Then came the year where my sister’s friend was going to be getting married. So my sister asked us if we would take lots of pictures during her friend’s wedding. We thought, of course we would take lots of pictures… We ALWAYS take lots of pictures! My sister then came to me about a month later saying that she asked my cousin if we could barrow his Canon 20D so that we had a more professional camera to take pictures during the wedding. She asked me, would you mind using his camera? Of course I wouldn’t mind using an awesome, expensive camera, as long as he didn’t care If we borrowed it… Sara and I didn’t know what we really were getting into.
A few days before the wedding day, my sister called me up, asking, so are you nervous?
Nervous about what, I said…
Nervous about being the photographer for my friend’s wedding.
Then I said… WHAT? I thought she had a photographer, but you wanted me to take a lot of pictures so she had a lot extra pictures!
No, you are the photographer. She decided to get a videographer and have you as the photographer.
Oh my, oh my… The day before the wedding, I am freaking out trying to figure out how to use my cousin’s camera. I better give him a call, but when I talked to him, he said I don’t know how to use all the controls on the camera. Just put the camera in auto and start snapping away!
Long story short, everyone loved them and said you should do this full-time. Well, I should thank my sister for stressing me out, and I should thank my cousin for letting me borrow his camera because that is how “Magic Your Way Weddings & Photography, LLC.” started….
